LeUyen Pham: Hello. My name is LeUyen Pham. It's a very difficult name to say, and a very difficult name to pronounce, and the worst name to spell. A lot of kids call me Wynn, or Winnie the Pooh. It's a Vietnamese name, and it's gone through many transitions, in fact.

My very first day of school in kindergarten, I went by Winnie, because it was just the name I knew myself as. When I was seven and kids started to learn to read at that point, then they could see that Winnie did not look like the way my name is spelled, which is LeUyen, so they started asking me to pronounce it properly, so I said LeUyen, but of course kids slandered the name, and it turned into Lee Ann.

When I got into college, one of my first professors was Vietnamese, and he insisted on calling me by my Vietnamese name, so I switched back to my Vietnamese name.

I recently married a French man named Alex Puvilland, and of course, everybody expected me to change my last name to his last name, but I thought it would've been simply murderous for the whole world to have to spell out my name LeUyen Puvilland, so I kept my last name, which was the simpler of the two.
